What Doesn't Kill You Makes You...
Updated: May 7
It is both a strange and scary time we are in, no? COVID-19 has changed our way of life, and for some, it has even taken their life. Some worry when we will get back to work. Others are concerned for their parents who are living in a nursing home. And, then there are those who are grieving a loved one they could not be with in their final minutes.
And that is just the tip of the iceberg. There is so much more below the surface for all of us. Yet, if we go below the surface level, we will see that "what doesn't kill us makes us stronger" (thank you, Kelly Clarkson).
In surviving COVID-19, we get a chance to rethink how we want to live on this planet. What relationships are really important and how absence has made the heart grow fonder. How we can really change our environmental impact by changing our lifestyle. "Grey skies are gonna clear up, put on a happy face (thank you, Tony Bennett)."
Or could it be when this is all said and done we will return to doing everything we once did before COVID-19? Or, will we chose to do less, consume less, and spend more time with people and not "things".
The photo above is in my "irony" gallery on this website. It was originally made to have you think on whose sting is the deadliest - the bees or the pesticide he is spraying?
Yet, amidst coronavirus, I wonder what will survive, and who and what will die? May we chose wisely, for the course this pandemic takes is up to us. In the end, it will be a commentary on whether we understand what really matters and thus continue belting out "Stronger" with the words,
"What doesn't kill you makes a fighter
Footsteps even lighter."
So then, let's fight for in depth, below the surface relationships while physical distancing, and whenever we are allowed to step outside, let's walk a little lighter on our planet.
